Greenpan cookware: how good is it?

Here’s my review

At the end of 2020, I was very kindly gifted a couple of Greenpan frying pans, and asked to review them.

I’ve put them to the test over the last couple of months, and now I’m ready to share my thoughts on them.

Who are Greenpan and why should you care?

Let me tell you a little bit about Greenpan first. They’re a Belgian brand that decided about 10 years ago that they wanted to create an alternative to traditional non-stick cookware.

When you visit the GREENPAN WEBSITE, you’ll see that they use a ceramic coating called Thermolon. It’s a natural substance that doesn’t require the use of toxic chemicals like PFOA or PFAS during the production process.

Basically, it’s safe for you and your loved ones, as well as being environmentally friendly.

Cooking a recipe from the Greenpan website

The brief I was given by Greenpan was to cook one of the recipes from their website, and give an honest review.

So the first thing I wanted to do, was check them out and make sure there were some recipes up to my healthy standards!

I’m happy to report that there are quite a few. And of course, I often adapt recipes to make them healthier, or just to better suit my taste.

As I said above, I adapt recipes all the time, as I’m sure you do too. A little tweak here and there to accommodate the ingredients I have on hand, or refine the flavour.

The recipe I chose to make is their zucchini, feta and mint frittata. I swapped out the mint for spinach, and I added some extra left-over veggies that I needed to use.

So what’s the verdict?

At the end of the day, what really matters here is that I was testing the pan, and what it’s like to cook with.

I’m happy to report that the pan I used to cook my frittata did an excellent job. I used a very small amount of olive oil, and the frittata cooked beautifully, without sticking to the pan.

In my experience, cooking eggs often requires a fair bit of oil so that they don’t stick to the pan, even in a non-stick pan. So I was very pleased when the frittata easily slid out of the pan onto my plate!

As I said above, I was given two pans to play with. I used the smaller one (at the back of the photo) to cook my frittata.

I’ve used the larger pan several times for sauteing vegetables and shallow frying things like steak, burgers, salmon, pork chops, etc.

These pans are also very easy to clean. I use hot soapy water with a soft dishcloth, and they still look and perform like new after a few months of use.

Do let me know if you’ve used Greenpan cookware, and what you think of it.

If you’re in the market for new non-stick pans, then I can definitely recommend Greenpan.
