Myth busting: you really do have time for healthy eating

Busting Excuse #1: I’m too busy/I don’t have time

This is the first in a series of posts that expand on a presentation I have on Slideshare called “The top excuses for not eating healthy.”

I’m sure you can already guess that I’m about to tell you that the reasons you give of “I’m too busy” or “I don’t have time” are really just excuses!

While you may feel justified making these excuses, and feel like you have lots of good reasons for using them, they really are just that: excuses.

And excuses won’t change anything. So I’m here to help you with that!

I get it, you really are busy!

You’ve got a very busy life, so that makes you think you don’t have time.

The thing is though, you do. It’s all about priorities.

Stay with me, and I’ll explain.

Everyone has a busy life these days and it’s all too easy to get caught up in the idea that you just don’t have time to cook, or find new recipes, or even shop for groceries.

Do you feel like you barely make it through each week? Rushing around to and from work and/or school and then running errands.

If you’ve got kids, then you’re running around after them too, at all hours. It’s exhausting I know, and you can’t imagine how you could fit in anything else.

The thing is though, we all have the same amount of time. It’s how we use it, and what we prioritise, that differs from person to person.

The simple fact is that the people who are living healthy lifestyles aren’t any different from you. They’re not superhuman and they’re not less busy than you are.

They just put their health at the very top of their list of priorities, and they make it happen. You’ve probably heard the saying that we make time for what’s important to us. Well, it’s true.

“Nothing should be more valuable than your health.”

I’m not saying it’s always easy; it’s not.

What I am saying is that it’s about choice and priorities. It’s deciding that your health is important enough to dedicate some time to.

When you eat mostly real, fresh foods every day that you’ve prepared yourself without excess additives and preservatives, you’ll have more energy to get through the day.

Isn’t that worth making time for?

And of course, having the right convenience tools helps enormously.

How good would it be to have healthy recipes that are quick & easy to make at your fingertips, meal plans & shopping lists already done for you?

That’s exactly what you get in the Recipe Library inside the Better than Ever Collective.

Prioritise your health, and make small changes, one at a time

Your calendar might be full with scheduled appointments and activities, but I’ll bet you can find some wiggle room in your downtime.

Small changes, made gradually, will add up over time. Tale some time this weekend to plan some healthy breakfasts for the week ahead.

It’ll make you feel great, give you lots of energy for a productive morning, and you’ll be more likely to make good choices through the rest of the day.
